“I think it’s our natural birthright to go from success to success all our life” (Louise Hay) What Louise is talking about is if we believe that we have something useful to offer the world and that we are capable, talented people able to succeed at whatever we do, we naturally experience enjoyment and satisfaction with our life. We naturally take committed steps in the direction of, have confidence in ourself and are free of the stress that inhibits our creativity and creative problem solving. Or put another way, we have an inner environment that fosters success. Moreover, she is reminding us that we exist in a world and universe where there is an incomprehensible abundance of resources – which are available to anyone who is wholeheartedly willing to reach out for them.
So what is it that gets in the way of our experiencing that sense of success? Either we’ve lost sight of our innate capabilities, or we’ve developed a belief that we are not, nor could ever be, successful. Add to that a fear of making mistakes, of being ridiculed, of failing… Two simple strategies to begin restoring the feeling that abundance and success are in our lives are to: 1) Take a few minutes to really notice the world you live in – a tomato and its seeds – each of which is capable of growing a whole new plant with many tomatoes on it or the rain which (without any effort on our part) keeps the earth moist enabling plant growth and fills the rivers which supply our water. When you do this you begin to appreciate that there is life and possibility everywhere, and that even things as simple as the air you breathe and the water you drink are riches for us – freely available ones at that! 2)Then practice “blessing with love” (as Louise says!) everything that you already have in your life that somehow supports you and assists you in your life – the bed you sleep in, the house you live in, the food on your plate, the phone that helps you stay in touch with everyone, your transportation, the money you do have. The point of this is to create awareness that in many ways we are already abundant and succeeding. The more this awareness grows the more we feel abundant and successful.
